Astromech raises $20M for biological forecasting

Astromech, an artificial intelligence startup developing models to predict biological change, has raised $20 million in funding at a $3.8 billion valuation.

The round was led by biotechnology investor Bob Nelsen, with participation from Peak 6, NeoGenesis Capital, Builders VC and CAZ Investments. The company has raised $60 million to date.

Co-founded by entrepreneur Ben Lamm and geneticist George Church, Astromech was spun out of Colossal Biosciences. It builds a predictive model of biology using genomic and evolutionary data to forecast how living systems change, aiming to extend human longevity.
