The round was led by Zacua Ventures with participation from Sandpiper Ventures, Vantage Futures, Amplify Capital, the University of Calgary's UCEED fund, the Mount Rundle Club, and Sebastian Becker. Cura uses an electrochemical process to produce cement with up to 85% fewer emissions than traditional methods.

The company plans to use the $10 million USD to hire engineers and scientists, expanding its team from 15 to 20 by year-end, and to build a pilot plant near Taber, Alberta in partnership with Grand Forks Concrete. The pilot, expected to start commissioning in Q1 2027, will produce 100 tonnes of cement per year using solar power from a nearby farm.
