The investment comprises €268k from the British Design Fund, an Innovate UK Investor Partnership grant, and additional backing from existing investor Beeches Group. The funds will help the Harpenden-based startup scale its BioNomad system, which captures methane from livestock waste and converts it into biogas for heating, cooking, or electricity, while also producing biofertiliser.
EcoNomad’s technology is already deployed on more than 10 UK farms and in Africa, targeting small dairy, beef, pig, and poultry operations. The company aims to reduce energy and fertiliser costs for smallholders, with a typical 50-cow farm potentially saving thousands of pounds annually, according to company data.
