German defencetech company Ground A has raised more than €9 million in pre-seed funding for its GA 1000 laser-based counter-drone system. The system combines radar, sensors, computer vision, and AI to detect, classify, and track small drones, with a human operator deciding whether to deploy the laser. Weighing under 200 kilograms and designed for a Euro-pallet footprint, the GA 1000 can integrate into existing air defence, command-and-control, and land-, sea-, or air-based platforms.
Vsquared Ventures led the round, with participation from Quantum Systems, GRIF, Robin Capital, ABACON, Leblon Capital, and OVNI Capital. Additional backers include entrepreneurs and investors such as Florian Seibel, Sven Kruck, J14 Capital, Andreas Nauerz, Marlon Braumann, and Arx Robotics managing director Stefan Roebel. Ground A plans to expand production capacity with a next financing round in 2027.
