Grubel raises €3 million pre-seed for legal AI specialization

Grubel, a Munich- and Tübingen-based AI research lab, has raised €3 million in pre-seed funding to automate AI specialization for legal matters.

The round was led by Point Nine, with participation from angel investors including Jeff Dean, Chris Ré, Ion Stoica, and Harvey co-founders. Founded by machine-learning researchers Moritz Hardt and Reinhard Heckel, Grubel is automating the process of specializing AI systems for individual legal matters.

The company’s specialization loop handles data curation, test-time adaptation, and continual evaluation for each legal matter. Grubel plans to use the €3 million to support research, product development, and team expansion.
