Calgary-based payments processor Helcim has raised $53 million in Series C funding led by BDC’s Growth Venture Fund, with participation from Curql Collective, Gold House Ventures, and existing backers. The round values the company at $250 million and follows Helcim crossing $150 million in annual recurring revenue last year.
The raise comes amid a shakeup in Canadian payments as major banks sell off processing divisions, including the recent sale of Moneris to a U.S. private equity firm. Helcim plans to use the capital to expand its payment extension add-on, giving merchants more flexibility and lower costs.
