Ki 13 raised $5 million in seed funding led by HICO Investment Group, with participation from Burgest, Triple Impact Ventures, GiTV and Desai Ventures, plus non-dilutive match funding from Innovate UK. The company uses a low-temperature electrochemical process to convert biomass into green hydrogen and biogenic CO2 simultaneously, using about half the electricity of conventional water electrolysis and a fraction of the energy needed for direct air capture.

The process targets lignocellulosic residues from agriculture and forestry, avoiding purpose-grown feedstock. The pilot plant will help Ki 13 scale its technology toward commercial deployment for synthetic fuels like e-SAF and e-methanol.
