The round was backed by a syndicate of angel investors. The €1.7 million will support KOVE Medical as it progresses toward First-in-Human studies.

Founded in 2020 by Yannick Devaud and Kurt Ruffieux, the startup emerged from research involving the University of Zurich and University Hospital Zurich. Its implantable device is designed to close the opening created by surgical instruments during fetoscopy, stabilising the amniotic membrane to prevent leakage and preterm birth.
