The funding will support early concept and feasibility work for a point-of-care test covering chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis, including sample preparation and antimicrobial resistance detection. The project targets three infections that cause hundreds of millions of new cases each year, with a focus on affordability for low- and middle-income countries.
Readily Diagnostics, spun out of Uppsala University in 2022, develops sensitive and rapid diagnostic testing using padlock-probe technology. The platform delivers molecular results near the patient without central labs, and the test will be designed to run directly on a patient sample at a cost suitable for primary care and HIV-prevention settings.
